Join us as we witness the greatest event in nature. More than one million wildebeest and zebra cross the Mara River from Tanzania into the Masai Mara in mid July. Words really can't describe the scene.
What can you expect to see during your week long stay? We should see lions, leopard, cheetah, elephants, zebra, antelope, hippos, and giraffe just to name a few. We will most likely witness a heart stopping river crossing with wildebeest and zebra jumping into the river and swimming in croc infested waters.

Make sure your bag is loaded before you get in the transfer van. Take a back pack or smaller bag with you. You only need items and clothes you will use until your large bag arrives at camp around 6 pm.
We have a short drive to Wilson Airport. Boone will collect passports and check everyone in for the short flight to the Mara. Our flight departs at 10 am. It may be direct or could have a stop at another airstrip in the Mara. Flight time is 45 minutes. Enjoy flying over the Rift Valley and the scenery below.
Our Maasai guides will meet us at the airstrip and take us to the camp. We will be on a game drive the minute we leave the airstrip. Expect to see lots of amazing animals like giraffe, elephants, topi, zebra, warthogs, impala as we drive to camp.
First camp is Entim. We will check in to our tents and have a nice lunch. Enjoy a cold beverage this afternoon from the main area or the veranda closer to the Mara River. You will see wildlife like crocodiles and hippos in the water below. You may be ready for a nice hour long massage at camp. Cost is around $60.
Meet at the main area at 4 pm for high tea. Then depart with our guides at 4:30 for the afternoon game drive. We will stop for sundowners around 6:30 before returning to camp.
Drinks by the camp fire and then dinner around 7:30.
Staff will escort you back to your tent after dinner.

Pack your binoculars so you can get a good look at the crocodiles and hippos in the river.
Delivery of coffee or tea to your tent is your morning wake up call. Most will wake at 5:30 and then meet at the main area at 6:00 am. We will depart at 6:15 am for the morning game drive. Most of the wildlife activity happens in the first hours of the morning. We don't want to miss the action or seeing the sun rise over the Mara.
Around 9 am we will break for coffee and a light breakfast. If we find the herds are gathering by the river, we will wait to see if they cross. That could test your patience as wildebeests have no clear leader and change their minds about crossing often.
If there is no crossing, we will be back to camp around 11 am. We will meet for a nice brunch at camp as soon as we return. Then you will have about four hours of free time to enjoy the beautiful camp, take a nap, or get a massage.
We will meet at 4 pm for high tea and then depart at 4:30 for our afternoon game drive.
We will return at sunset and enjoy appetizers and drinks around the fire. Then sit at 7:30 for dinner.
Never walk back to your tent after dark without an escort.
Today will have the same schedule as the previous day. But, we will for sure see different wildlife and different areas of the Maasai Mara each day.
Wake up the same time. This morning you will leave your packed bags just inside your tent. We won't be returning to Entim camp and your luggage will be transported to our next camp.
After our morning game drive in the National Park, we will arrive at our next camp, Lerai. Lerai is located just outside the Talek Gate. It sits in the Olerai Conservancy. The great thing about Lerai is this is a completely private conservancy. We will not have to share sightings with any other vehicles. Once we check in and see our new tents, you may want to take a swim in the pool. There is lots of wildlife to see around the camp. You may even want to take a walk in the conservancy with our Maasai staff.
This afternoon we will explore the Olerai conservancy with our guides. Olerai is known for their local leopards. We will drive along the creeks searching for them. As the afternoon game drive winds down, we will stop as the sun begins to lower on the horizon and we will get out to watch the sunset and have a beer or wine.
Staff will bring coffee to your tent at the time of your choosing. We will meet at main camp area at 6:15 sharp for our morning game drive in the private conservancy. We will look for lions and leopard primarily.
We will return mid morning for a nice breakfast. After breakfast, we will take a short drive to visit the Maasai village. There is a $30 per person fee which helps the village support their school and buy essential food items.
Lunch time is 1 pm. After lunch, those who wish to will visit the local Maasai school. Others will have ample time to relax before the afternoon game drive. Again, meet at 4 pm for high tea and depart at 4:30. Those who did not do the walking game drive can do that today.
We will continue to look for the resident leopards and visiting lions. After our sundowners, we will drive slowly back to camp to look for nocturnal animals.
This morning many in our group will go for the hot air balloon ride. Depart at 5:30 am so you arrive in time for the orientation at the balloon launch site. You will drift quietly over the herds as the sun rises. After about an hour, you will land in the Mara. Staff will be waiting on you and transport you to the spot for your champagne breakfast.
Those not doing the balloon ride will go into the National park for the morning game drive. We will meet up the ballooners around 9 am. Then will will continue the morning game drive and return to camp between 11 am and noon.
Lunch and pool/massage/nap time before our afternoon game drive.
You need to have your larger bag packed and ready for pick up before the afternoon game drive. The bag will be driven over the road back to Nairobi.
This is our last night in the Mara and we will have a special sundowner party in the conservancy. Dinner will also be a special event with singing and dancing by our Maasai staff.
This morning we can take one last game drive to search the conservancy for those elusive leopards. Some may opt to sleep in this morning.
After a nice brunch, it will be time to say our goodbye's and head to the local airstrip.
Our flight should arrive back in Nairobi at noon. Our drivers will take you back to the hotel to the Serena hotel. You can reserve a day room or sit by the pool until time to depart for the international airport and your flight home.
